Fastest Puff Pastry Appetizer

Fastest Puff Pastry Appetizer with Mozzarella & Mustard

Servings: About 20 bite-size pieces

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15–20 minutes

Total Time: 25–30 minutes

---

Ingredients:

2 sheets (400 g each) puff pastry, thawed if frozen

3–4 tsp mustard (Dijon or yellow, to taste)

150 g hard mozzarella cheese, grated or finely shredded

Optional: 1 egg yolk, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: Black pepper or dried herbs (e.g., oregano, thyme)

---

Instructions:

1. Preheat Oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the First Sheet:

Place one puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface.

Spread 1.5–2 teaspoons of mustard evenly over the pastry.

Sprinkle half the mozzarella cheese evenly over the mustard.

3. Top with Second Sheet:

Place the second sheet of puff pastry on top.

Spread the remaining mustard and sprinkle the rest of the cheese.

4. Cut and Shape:

Gently press the layers together.

Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice into strips (about 1 inch wide).

Twist each strip a couple of times to form spirals.

Arrange twists on the baking sheet, leaving space between them.

5. (Optional) Egg Wash & Season:

Brush each twist lightly with beaten egg yolk for a golden finish.

Sprinkle with black pepper or herbs if desired.

6. Bake:

Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.

7. Serve Warm!

These are best served fresh out of the oven but can be reheated briefly in the oven if needed.

---

Pro Tips:

Want a tangy twist? Try honey mustard or grainy mustard.

For a meaty variation, add a layer of thin prosciutto or ham before twisting.

Don’t overload with cheese—too much can leak out during bak

ing.
