Pecan cream pie

Pecan cream pie is a delightful twist on the classic pecan pie we all know and love. This pie combines the rich, nutty flavor of pecans with a smooth and creamy filling that just melts in your mouth. It's a perfect treat for holidays, family gatherings, or just because you want to make something special. There's something truly heartwarming about sharing a slice of this pie with loved ones, and I know my family always asks for seconds!

Pecan cream pie pairs wonderfully with a dollop of freshly whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side. For a festive touch, consider serving it with a hot cup of coffee or a warm mug of cocoa during the colder months. A light green salad or a cup of fruit salad can balance out the sweetness and make for a more rounded dessert experience.

Pecan Cream Pie

Servings: 8

Ingredients

1 cup of chopped pecans

1 9-inch pie crust, pre-baked

1 cup of heavy cream

1/2 cup of sugar

1/4 cup of brown sugar

1/4 cup of unsalted butter

1/4 cup of all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tsp of vanilla extract

1/4 tsp of salt

Directions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C)

Spread the chopped pecans evenly over the pre-baked pie crust.

In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, sugar, and brown sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugars are dissolved and the mixture begins to simmer.

Remove from heat and whisk in the butter until melted and well combined.

In a small bowl, beat the eggs and then slowly add them to the cream mixture, whisking constantly to prevent them from cooking.

Stir in the flour, vanilla extract, and salt until well blended.

Pour the mixture over the pecans in the pie crust.

Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.

Allow the pie to cool completely before serving to ensure the filling sets properly.

Variations & Tips

For a fun twist, try adding a splash of bourbon or rum to the cream mixture for a boozy kick. If your family isn't a fan of pecans, you can replace them with walnuts or almonds. If someone has a nut allergy, consider using chocolate chips or shredded coconut instead of nuts. To make it extra special for the holidays, sprinkle a bit of cinnamon or nutmeg into the filling mixture before baking.
