Smoked Chicken Wings

Smoked chicken wings are a delicious and flavorful dish that you can prepare on a smoker or grill. Here’s a simple guide on how to make them:

Ingredients:

12-15 chicken wings (drummettes or flats)

2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp garlic powder

1 tbsp onion powder

1 tsp smoked paprika

1 tsp chili powder

1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)

1/2 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional for heat)

Your favorite BBQ sauce or dry rub (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Chicken Wings:

Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels.

Remove any excess fat or feathers.

Drizzle olive oil over the wings to help the seasonings stick.

2. Season the Wings:

In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, pepper, and cayenne (if using).

Sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly over the wings, making sure to coat them on all sides.

3. Prepare the Smoker/Grill:

Preheat your smoker or grill to around 225°F (107°C) using indirect heat.

If using a smoker, choose a wood that complements chicken, such as hickory, apple, or cherry.

4. Smoking the Wings:

Place the seasoned wings on the smoker or grill grates.

Smoke the wings for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until they reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C). Flip them halfway through for even cooking.

5. Crisping the Wings (Optional):

If you prefer crispy skin, you can increase the temperature to around 400°F (204°C) during the last 10-15 minutes of cooking. Alternatively, you can crisp them up on a hot grill for a few minutes on each side.

6. Serving:

Once the wings are cooked, remove them from the smoker.

Toss them in your favorite BBQ sauce if desired, or serve them dry with dipping sauces like ranch or blu

e cheese.

Enjoy your perfectly smoked, flavorful chicken wings!
