Sausage and Potato Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
1 pound ground sausage (Italian or breakfast sausage)
4 cups diced potatoes (or frozen hash browns)
1 small onion, diced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup milk
4 large eggs
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons butter (for greasing the baking dish)

Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
2. Cook Sausage: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease if needed.
3. Prepare Potatoes and Onions:
If using fresh potatoes, dice them into small cubes and partially cook them in a skillet until slightly softened.
If using frozen hash browns, thaw them and drain any excess moisture.
Sauté the diced onion in the skillet until translucent.
4. Combine Ingredients:
In a large bowl, mix the cooked sausage, potatoes (or hash browns), and onions. Spread this mixture evenly into the greased baking dish.
5. Make Egg Mixture:
In a separate bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sour cream, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
6. Assemble Casserole:
Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and potato mixture. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
7. Bake:
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the eggs are set and the top is golden brown.
8. Cool and Serve:
Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
