Chocolate Depression Cake
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp white vinegar
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 cup water

Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. Add Wet Ingredients:
Make 3 wells in the dry mixture. Pour vanilla in one, vinegar in another, and oil in the third. Then pour the water over everything.
4. Combine:
Stir everything together until the batter is smooth and well-mixed.
5. Bake:
Pour batter into your prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
6. Cool and Serve:
Let cool before slicing. You can dust with powdered sugar or top with your favorite frosting!
